The practice of teshuvah, returning to our highest selves, is emphasized on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, but in fact can be practiced in the present moment. Join us for a month-long exploration of mindfulness meditation practices that will guide us through avodah she’balev, the spiritual work of the heart, to prepare for this year’s High Holy Days of Awe. All are welcome, regardless of prior experience with mindfulness meditation or Jewish practice.

The High Holiday season is a time for introspection and discovery, for turning towards ourselves and the lives we are living with honesty and compassion. The Hebrew month of Elul offers us the opportunity to examine where we are, where we want to go, and to set a path towards reclaiming what is whole. In this 3-class series, we will explore traditional Jewish texts, as well as contemporary ones, and using discussion and reflective practices and writing, begin the spiritual work of readying ourselves for the High Holiday season

The Jewish calendar is a doorway into the spiritual rhythm of our year. The Jewish holidays guide us through all of human experience: joy and sadness, loss and rebirth, retreat and awakening. We are embodied beings, and we move through our lives with our whole selves: mind, heart, body and spirit. In this special program, together we will move through the Jewish calendar and experience the invitation of the holidays to become more present to the deep knowledge and strength that dwells in our bodies. Cost: $180
